2-3x your traffic & leads— using Content Templates
Here’s exactly how Doorloop.com drives 103k traffic/month using content templates.
Want to scale your organic traffic and leads?
Then stop searching for target keywords and creating content briefs one by one.
Instead, plan and execute content templates at a large scale— also known as wildcard keyword strategy.
Here’s what I mean:
You first find a keyword idea and create a content template to create hundreds of pages targeting different keywords from a single group.
▶️ I have recorded a 5-minute video showing you exactly what this SEO strategy is with a real case study 👇
Let me cite an example:
For an SEO agency, a content template could be:
Content Template: Local SEO for {industry}
Local SEO for {Dentist}
Local SEO for {Healthcare}
Local SEO for {Plumber}
Local SEO for {Doctor}
That means you use the same content outline template to create hundreds of pages targeting different yet similar keywords.
Benefits?
Topical depth: Increase topical depth by covering dozens of pages under the same parent topic
Scales content production: one template generates dozens of content pieces.
Saves time on research: less time spent finding new keywords and creating outlines.
SEO growth: more indexed pages lead to higher rankings and traffic, which ultimately results in more conversions.
Maximizes efficiency: focus more on execution, and less on planning.
SEO case study
Here’s a content template strategy from Doorloop.com— that drives 103k organic visits per month.
About the brand: Doorloop is a property management software with a target audience in the US.
The biggest traffic driver for Doorloop is their domain/laws subfolder— which is driving 103.4k organic visits every month across 171 pages.
However, when I researched the type of pages created, I found Doorloop is using 10_ content templates to scale their SEO effort.
An example content template: [State] eviction laws
Doorloop has created 100+ such pages for different states and locations in the US (with both text and video content):
Not only this, Doorloop has many other content templates related to their niche.
Here’s the complete content template breakdown:
Notice that each content template checks all boxes to grow their traffic and conversions at scale:
✔️ Has traffic potential
✔️ Not too difficult to compete
✔️ Opportunity to create pages at scale
✔️ Relevant to the product offerings (which brings higher conversions)
Now comes the most important question:
How to apply the content template strategy for your website?
OPTION 1: COMPETITOR ANALYSIS
Know any competitor that is driving tons of relevant traffic in your niche?
Then follow these steps to find content templates they are using:
Step 1. Go to the sitemap
Extract sitemap URL data using a sitemap extractor or download the sitemap as a TXT file using the SEO Pro Chrome extension.
Step 2. Use ChatGPT to analyse sitemap URLs
Paste your sitemap URLs or the TXT file directly into ChatGPT and use a similar prompt.
This is the prompt I used to find localized content templates from Doorloop:
The final output I got within seconds:
Step 3. Get SEO metrics
Now, you can use any SEO tool to collect metrics like— traffic, organic pages, and traffic value.
Step 4. Prioritize content templates
Your goal is not just to find keywords that bring the most traffic.
Instead, your goal should be to target content plates targeting the bottom-of-the-funnel stage.
For example, check out the following two query types from an IT training institute standpoint:
How to become a data science engineer (Low-med business value)
Best data science courses (High business value)
In fact, I go deep with the prioritization of search query templates using multiple factors.
Here’s the sheet I’ve used for one of my clients (data and keywords are just for sample):
Copy this Google sheet template
Step 5. Create a content outline for templates
Create the standard outline template that will be used for all of your pages.
Also, I’d suggest taking your time and creating the content brief analyzing SERP, top ranking pages, and including headings/questions that solve their challenges.
Step 6. Group pages and build a hub
Once you've published 10-15+ pages under the query template, you should group them together and build a customized hub page.
For example, if one of your query templates is Best online {topic} courses, display all of these pages on the hub page.
This way, Google can understand and find all pages together and it improves the user experience.

💡 BONUS STRATEGIES TO FIND CONTENT TEMPLATE IDEAS:
Just type the templated content format (relevant to your business) and wait for Google to suggest keyword ideas.
Here’s an example:
Here the templated idea was ‘How to reach [place X] from [Place Y]’. Now, by using wildcard SEO, I can also find a large number of content ideas.
This will help to scale the content creation process.
Another way to find content template opportunities is by using any of your SEO tools
(Here, I will use Ahrefs).
Type the same templated content format and select the country.
As you can see in the above screenshot, I’ve generated over 4,000 content ideas in a few minutes in this simple way.
Next, I can also filter the list by keyword difficulty, business relevance and search volume to get a refined and relevant list of keywords.
So, do your basics of SEO— quality content, better content experience, technical health (smooth crawling and indexing), backlinks.
